Isles on Innsmouth, a Lovecraftian city builder, coming next year

Crimson Herring Studios has announced Isles of Innsmouth, a new single-player city-building game that combines the cozy atmosphere of a New England fishing village with Lovecraftian horror. Published by Zugalu Entertainment, the game is currently being developed for Windows PC through Steam, with a full release expected in 2027. An exact release date has not been announced.

Players build settlements across procedurally generated islands while trying to appease the Elder Gods. Instead of dealing with complicated economies and endless resources, you place buildings from available cards and discover combinations that improve your score. Doing well unlocks additional structures and islands, allowing the settlement to continue growing. There will be more than sixty structures to discover, along with Steam achievements, an original ambient soundtrack, photo mode, and a creative sandbox option for anyone who would rather build without worrying about a score.

The developers have mentioned Islanders, Townscaper, Dystopika, and Dredge while discussing some of the game's inspirations, which gives a pretty good idea of the atmosphere they are chasing. They have also indicated that they plan to lean further into the horror elements with things such as strange ruins, creatures, and quests appearing throughout the islands.

A demo is planned for later in 2026. The game can already be wishlisted on Steam.
