[MOVIE REVIEW] 'The Home'
“Scream Unseen,” hosted by AMC theaters is always a treat. Otherwise known as “Monday mystery movie,” this spooky edition of the event happens every so often. You can find the showings on the AMC app. It rarely disappoints if you’re a genuine horror fan. The last time I went to one it was “Lisa Frankenstein.” This time around it was the brand new Pete Davidson film called “The Home.” Davidson shows his range outside of the traditional comedy in this thought provoking thriller. His dramatic ability shines through in this role, especially in the second half of the film. We won’t spoil for you, but we will say it is completely unexpected. This film is definitely not for the squeamish as it almost verges on the side of body horror at points. Set in a convalescent hospital otherwise known as a “home,” we’re drawn into the unique personalities of its various residents while learning about Davidsons characters upbringing and childhood trauma. Whether you’re a fan of the former SNL star, love horror with deep emotional underpinnings, or blood and gore you’ll get it all. Definitely recommend this film, keep your eyes peeled for your local showing.
