Scooby Doo Netflix series gets its Daphne
Hold onto your masks, ghosts and ghouls. Netflix has announced a new cast member for their upcoming live-action Scooby-Doo series.
Mckenna Grace (Scream 7) will star as Daphne in the eight-episode series. She is the first cast announcement for this origin story of the mystery gang.
The plot centers on old friends Shaggy and Daphne on the final day of summer camp. A haunting mystery drags them into the center with the sole witness to a supernatural natural murder being a lonely Great Dane. Their only help comes from a pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma, and the strange and handsome new kid, Freddy. They will have to face a creepy nightmare that will cost them their secrets.
This won’t be Grace's first time as the character, having previously voiced young Daphne in Scoob!. Her casting signifies the young and recognizable direction Netflix wishes to take in this adaptation.
Midnight Radio, Berlanti Productions, and Warner Bros. Television will distribute the series. The show-runners and writers will be Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg.
