Scream Diego: bringing horror lovers further down south

San Diego is casual and laid-back, lacking the big Halloween and horror events our friends to the north enjoy. That’s what makes Scream Diego feel especially unique. It’s an opportunity for this city’s Halloween and horror community to come together.

Taking place on Oct. 17 at the DoubleTree Mission Valley, Scream Diego will feature more than 40 vendors and artists offering everything from dark and creepy to classic Halloween and cute and spooky creations.

Beyond shopping, there’s a horror film festival, costume contests, ghost stories, and presentations featuring authors, actors, and a drag artist.

Plus, zombies are invading this year! They’ll roam among the living and might spontaneously break into dance. There will also be free zombie makeovers, allowing guests to arrive in street clothes and leave looking dead (in a good way)

The Princess Project will have prom dresses available, and a local florist will offer corsages and boutonnieres for the Monster Prom after-party.

Families can enjoy trick-or-treating, free pumpkins for the first 200 kids, and costume prizes, including Stan Winston School subscriptions, VR experiences, and tickets to local haunted attractions.
