Scream’s Kevin Williamson to bring Universal Monsters to television
The Universal Monsters are crawling out of their graves with the help of Slasher director Kevin Williamson. After his return to the Scream franchise, Williamson is being given the reigns to debut some of horror’s greatest icons on television.
The series will see the monsters in a shared world.
Williamson was interviewed by Esquire where he discussed his plans after Scream 7: “Netflix and Universal were very kind to let me go direct Scream 7 and put some projects on hold, and now I’m focused on those. The one I’m writing right now is a show. You might call it an adult Vampire Diaries. It’s based in the Universal monster land. I get to play with some of those characters, like Dracula and Frankenstein and the Wolf Man and have fun there.”
This isn’t new territory for Williamson, who was the show runner for Vampire Diaries and Dawson’s Creek.
