Asylum After Dark opens submissions for film festival
Horror Filmmakers: it’s time to unleash your terror. Asylum Brewing has started its first-ever short horror film festival, Asylum After Dark. Participants will have the opportunity to have their original projects screened at the incredible Frida Cinema.
Films must be within the horror genre, with a run time between 10 to 20 minutes. The rating can be R or lower. Directors must be 18 or older. The project also cannot have been publicly released.
The contest started on April 1 and will last until Aug. 31, 2026. Early submissions last until May 31 for the early bird entry price of $30. After the deadline, the entry price is $60 until submissions are closed. Notifications will come out on Sept. 19, with the festival screening on Oct 22.
Entries will be reviewed by a panel of judges, with 10 films being selected for the festival. A live audience will have the pleasure of seeing the films competing for awards across multiple horror categories, including best in festival and audience choice award.
Five films will have the bonus opportunity to be selected for Honorable Mentions. This offers a special screening at Asylum Brewing Company, official festival laurels, and promotion from festival marketing and social media.
