Barbarian gets SteelBook release
20th Century Studios have decided to give fans what they’ve been wanting for four years: a physical media release of Zach Cregger’s film, Barbarian.
Barbarian, written and directed by Cregger, was released in 2022 by 20th Century Studios, making over $45 million worldwide at the box office on a budget of no more than $4.5 million. Yet, despite an impressive theatrical run, Barbarian did not receive a physical media release, instead being released exclusively onto HBOMax to the dismay of many horror fans.
However, following the success of Cregger’s sophomore film Weapons (2025), Barbarian is now being released as a 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray combo pack SteelBook, featuring art by Creepy Duck Design. The release’s bonus features include an audio commentary with Cregger and producer Roy Lee, a “Behind Barbarian” featurette, and deleted scenes.
Barbarian stars Georgina Campbell, Bill Skarsgård, and Justin Long. The film follows a woman who rents a house on Airbnb only to find out on arrival that it’s accidentally been double-booked, with a man already occupying the space. She reluctantly agrees to stay after the man insists on giving her the bedroom, leading her to discover the dark secret that the house hides.
Barbarian is set to make its physical media debut on Aug 11, with pre-orders for the SteelBook opening on July 2 at all physical media retailers.
