Chucky star joins RDF horror production
Fiona Dourif, star of Chucky, the TV series developed by SYFY and daughter of horror legend Brad Dourif, has been cast in the upcoming Robert Downey Jr. produced horror movie ‘A Head Full of Ghosts.’
The story is about a suburban family torn apart by their teenage daughter Marjorie’s insanity and potential demonic possession being the subject of a reality show. Now her sister Merry faces evil forces with help from a journalist to uncover her family’s dark past that doomed them.
Fiona Dourif, alongside David Harbour, play the roles of the parents. Esmé Creed-Miles joins the cast as Merry, with Bohdi Rae Breathnach as Marjorie, and newcomer actor Hollie Hill-Pearson as young Merry.
A Head Full of Ghosts is an adaptation of a novel by Paul G. Tremblay that’s been in development for years. It’s being written and directed by Australian duo Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala, who are best known for Goodnight Mommy, which was Austria’s Best Foreign Language Film entry for the 2014 Oscars. Lionsgate - who recently acquired the film from Fifth Season - will be the studio in charge of production.
The chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Adam Fogelson said, “We’re thrilled to partner with Team Downey, The Allegiance Theater, and David Gambino, and our friends at Fifth Season, who collectively bring exceptional prestige and creative confidence to the project. This team’s artistic vision for this terrifying story has been undeniable – striking, distinct and genuinely unsettling. It’s no surprise that Stephen King called this book his favorite novel of the past decade and said that it ‘scared the living hell’ out of him – which says it all.”
Dourif has been enjoying a higher mainstream profile from the tv show The Pitt as Dr. Cassie McKay.
No release date has been set yet, but filming is being lined up for March.
