Lee Cronin wants to work on an‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ movie
With the release of ‘The Mummy’ (2026) and having done a fantastic job on ‘Evil Dead Rise’ (2023), it’s no surprise Lee wants to tackle Freddy Krueger for his next project.
“I would find it very hard not to have a swing at ol’ Freddy Krueger, because he haunted my nightmares throughout my entire childhood and still pops up about four times a year. But I actually think it’s unlikely that my next movie will be franchise adjacent — and that’s something that feels important to me right now.” Cronin told Variety.
With talks about a new Nightmare film every few years, it would be a refreshing take to see someone new tackle the dream demon after being dormant for 16 years. Of course, everyone wants Robert Englund to return to the franchise, but we need an entirely new take on old Fred Krueger and a fresh batch of Elm Street kids for him to torture.
