Cinesylum is for Arizona Horror fans looking for a fun movie night

Cinesylum is held twice a month and hosted by Aaron Hudson, Danni Winn, and Samantha Hurdich. These three horror movie fans created this movie event to bring together the horror community and to have a safe space for people to gather to watch some of the best movies ever made!

Cinesylum has two locations: The Academy Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona, and RoadHouse Cinemas in Scottsdale, Arizona. At The Academy Theatre, two movies are shown once a month on a Saturday. You can buy tickets to attend one or both showings.

One takes place at 5 pm and the other at 8 pm. The 5 pm movie is announced, so you know what you’ll be watching, but the 8 pm showing is a mystery movie. We have attended quite a few movies at The Academy Theatre, and the environment is very personable, pleasant, and cozy.

When you go to a showing at this location, you donate towards the arts and the programs the theatre puts on for the youth. Everyone receives a raffle ticket upon entering, and before the movie is played, some super cool prizes are raffled off.

There is also a small concession area where you can stop by to get popcorn, soda, a hotdog, and more before the movie starts. While we haven’t been able to attend a showing at RoadHouse Cinemas in Scottsdale, we see all of the pictures and videos, and it looks like a blast!

Showings take place here once a month on a Wednesday at 8 pm. A fun menu is created to fit the movie being shown at this location, so your food and drink can match the vibe. Like The Academy Theatre, raffle tickets are also handed out, and prizes are won before the movie begins.

At RoadHouse Cinemas, you get to sit in comfy reclining seats and order your food and drinks in the theatre/during the movie. Just don’t forget to tip your waiter!

Cinesylum is like a little family where everyone knows each other. We all take pictures, say hi, and give hugs; it's truly a wonderful environment to be in. The hosts are the best, and the people who attend are the nicest!

horror cons, but we also go to in-store signings, local markets, fun weekend events, early movie

screenings, and whatever else may come our way. We became part of the AZ Horror Community

in 2018 after our first-ever convention, and now, years later, we're running a social media

account covering the events. Though we just started our social media journey a little over a year

ago, we have fully embraced being part of the media coverage side and are always up for

attending new events that welcome us. We started as attendees, and now we are covering cons,

markets, and other events for ourselves and Local Haunts!
