[EVENT REVIEW] Creep I.E. Con 2025
The beginning of 2025 has been rough so far and a Horror convention is just what the doctor ordered!
Going on four years strong Creep I.E. hasn’t slowed down its production value or overall vibes of what a horror convention should feel like, and it certainly felt like they went above and beyond this year. The only downside was timing.
Unfortunately, in early January, a huge fire broke out in Los Angeles, and several people lost their businesses, homes, friends, and family. It was a devastating loss for everyone involved. That was a big explanation as to why the crowds felt so thinned out during the 3 days of the event, but that didn’t stop everyone who could attend from having a spooky good time, including us!
There were cosplayers galore during the event. Some new and familiar faces roamed the halls all weekend long looking for that next scare… Or photo-op from horror fans who were excited to see their favorite characters come to life. Seeing people get creative when it comes to cosplay is the best part about a horror convention. Throughout all 3 days, I saw kids dressing up as Art the Clown, Valak the Nun, Pennywise the Clown, and many more. Cosplay is for everyone and it’s always fun seeing how weird people can get with their ideas.
What’s a good horror con without a little shopping? The vendor hall this year was filled with over 170+ vendors that ranged from shirts, blankets, VHS tapes, arcade cabinets, candles, tattoos, and plenty of spooky goods.
Our Friends at Fear Farm brought a new mini haunt for the convention that scared the pants off of us! We love seeing the new and creative ways they can scare and, with such limited space that didn’t stop them from creating a BOMB SHELTER in the convention center. Right next door to them were our friends Art’s Sideshow who had ‘The Lost Boys’, ‘Saw’, and ‘Fright Night’ photo-ops for everyone to enjoy. You might’ve even caught a glimpse of a certain crooked man lurking around…
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Re-Animator, there was a panel curated by Halloweenies and Scare You To Sleep podcasts which are on the Bloody Disgusting podcast network. The panel guests were Barbara Crampton, Jeffrey Combs, Bruce Abbott, Brian Yuzna,, and Richard Band! It was a treat to listen to them speak highly of Stuart Gordon and how his legacy and love for horror left a huge impression on them. There was also an announcement for a BRAND NEW 4K release of Re-Animator coming out later this year. Stay tuned…
