[EVENT REVIEW] Easter Egg Hunt & Haunt
What do you get when you cross a mainstream haunt with a small mountain town? Welcome to Pinheads Graveyard!
Pinheads is a horror lover's dream world. Located inside a truly haunted, three-story building, this haunted attraction is centered around all your favorite horror icons. From Michael to Jason to Freddy, they have it all. Not to mention, this haunt is open for more than just the Halloween season! That’s right, Pinheads is open for Valentine’s Day, Easter, the Halloween season, and Christmas, so you get a full year of fear.
I had the pleasure of attending Pinheads Graveyard’s Hunt and Haunt this past weekend. Immediately from walking in the door, you are met with a warm welcome from the owners and other family members. This place is family-run, and spans a couple of generations already! The price point is very comparable to other haunts in the area, you also have the option to upgrade your ticket for $5 to be touched by actors. I highly recommend this!
For the haunt itself, they ran this attraction differently than any I had been to before. The entire building was open for free range of guests. The staff had previously hidden a few thousand Easter eggs within the maze, and our goal was to fill as many bags as possible! However, that did not mean this was an easy feat. The lights were mostly off, the music was on, and all the characters were armed and ready to take those eggs no sooner than you grabbed them! This made for a very fun, but challenging game. Although this was an all-ages experience, I do think that adults were able to enjoy themselves as the characters did a wonderful job of interacting with everyone equally. Some of the eggs even had a special surprise in them, as I quickly found out after I ended up covered in water!
Overall, I would highly recommend Pinheads Graveyard. This location was one of the few that were able to open after the tragic devastation of Hurricane Helene in North Carolina last September, but that does not mean that the effects are not felt here. This crew continued to show up and spread holiday cheer for the community through Christmas and Valentine’s Day in one of its worst times, and for that, they deserve the highest accolades.
