Leslie Vernon makes his triumphant return to the big screen, but they need our help
The title and announcement were revealed at the 20th anniversary screening of the original film ‘Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon’ at the Alamo Drafthouse in downtown Los Angeles, where Director Scott Glosserman and Writer David J. Stieve shared the big news. Thanks to Variety for giving us the exclusive news.
After 20 years of waiting, stalking, and Scott gave us some insight into what’s been happening with Leslie. “For 20 years, people have asked if Leslie would ever come back. The truth is, he never really left,” Glosserman said in a statement. “Fans kept this movie alive by sharing it, quoting it, introducing it to their friends, and treating it like something worth holding onto. This sequel is happening because of them.”
A Kickstarter is launching soon for fans who want to be involved in the making of the film, “We’re making the movie either way,” Glosserman said. “But the more the audience gets involved, the bigger we can make it. Bigger set pieces. More cameos. More surprises. This has always been a fan-driven film, and it still is.”
Robert Englund, Nathan Baesel, and Angela Goethals are all set to return for the sequel.
Behind the Mask 2: The Return of Leslie Vernon will be released sometime in 2027.
