[SHOW REVIEW] Dracula: The Musical
Dracula the Musical at The Nocturne Theater of Glendale is a beautifully spine-chilling culmination of gore, sex, love for the ages, and sheer, undeniable talent. The cast and puppet host, yes, we said puppet host, presents a variety of entertainment from comedic relief, aerial artistry, opera, sensual dance, and superb acting. The price point for this event varies from the $40s range and up, depending on the type of view you want to have. But an insider tip says that in reality, any seat in this theater is intimate and relatively close to the stage. Also, a word to the wise, you can often find discount tickets for the shows hosted here by following Nocturne's social media and signing up for their email list. Nocturne's productions are always amazing, from Christmas time's "Madam Scrooge" to the upcoming "Haunted Soiree: VAMPIRE." This writer has been to both in the past and can truthfully say they're both 100% worth buying tickets for.
Now, for details about Dracula himself. Played by one of the theater's owners, Justin Meyer, Dracula is portrayed as the classic villain we all know him as in popular culture. We also get to see him as somehow relatable and at the end maybe even a bit loveable? I mean, how can you not? He hits high notes and knows how to attract women with his mere mind power! But Dracula would be nothing without his loyal counterparts, the other vampiresses, who are all triple threats for the audience and their victims in the show. The love interests of Dracula, played by Samantha Rose as Mina and Kelly Krippendorf as Lucy, absolutely killed it (pun intended). The doctor Jack, Renfield, and Van Helsing are all outstanding as well and help give life to the story and show. Finally, there's the men who compete with Dracula for the love of Mina and Lucy. The three men all embody three completely different characters who are genuinely fun to watch and provide some fun laughs. This week is your last week to enjoy this show. Be sure to check it out before the last blood drops on August the 31st!
