[SHOW REVIEW] Strings by Trepany House

Strings is an entirely unique and engaging play hosted at the Titmouse theater in Hollywood and produced by Trepany House.  The subject of the play surrounds that of a man who is suffering from the condition known as Morgellons disease.  The disease is a real life mental health condition where patients believe they have strings that come out of their body through the skin.  The play itself is a serious in depth, moral and social commentary on the healthcare system in the United States.  It is officially classified as horror, and it definitely is horror, but it also makes you think and question your own perception on mental health, the pharmaceutical industry, and the ethical disposition of medical healthcare providers.

The acting of the entire cast is genuinely fantastic. This small theater really brought the talent and blew us away.  This play does have themes of violence and sex so it is not for the faint of heart or young children.  For horror fan adults however, we can heartily recommend this production.  The set design is basic, but creative, and helps bring to life this harrowing story. Lighting and music choice were also well executed and really set the tone for the dire nature of the subject matter.  Also necessary in plays that can be heavy such as this, are the moments of incorporated comic relief, which they did not fail to deliver.  Priced at $38.50 a ticket with any seat being a great view, it is definitely worth it. The production runs until Saturday November 1st.  Come check it out… no strings attached.
