Terrifier 4 to take place on New Year’s Eve

After Terrifier 3 sent audiences into a red Christmas, fans have been wanting to know when they can expect to see Art the clown carving his way back into their eyes.

The wait has gotten closer to an end as director Damien Leone has revealed via Instagram that Terrifier 4 will take place on New Year's Eve.

“No space. No Easter bunny. Art’s bringing in the New Year!”

This keeps its story’s timeframe close to the events of Terrifier 3.

This is big news for the franchise that started with a low budget of $55,000 and shattered the industry’s expectations with its sequel’s limited theatrical box office success. All of this was possible by the dedicated fan base that raised over $200,000 during its crowdfunding campaign.

The sequel is said to reveal Art’s origins, but the story isn’t fully known. In a Feb 2026 interview with Den of Geek, Lauren LaVerathe, the actor who plays Sienna, said, “I don’t think Damien’s even done writing it as of right now. I’m sure he’s close to done based off things he has texted me and what he’s been telling the press, but no, he’s kept it completely under wraps from David, from myself, from all the other cast and crew. So it’ll be a surprise.”

Leone is confident that the script will be completed soon and satisfy the audience's expectations. “The script is very close to completion, and I’m hoping to begin pre-production this spring. This is the most precious script I’ve written for many reasons, but it’s also the most challenging. There’s a lot of material to tackle and a lot riding on this one, not just creatively but emotionally.”

It may be a semi-conclusion to the franchise, as David Howard Thornton, the actor who does Art, in an interview with Slasher Radio said, “Is this going to be the true finale? I feel like this might be the finale of this story arc that [Lone]’s going with for right now and might give it a rest for a few years and might return to it later on. I have no idea, but I’m excited nonetheless.”

Having Art continue his rampage for another holiday is a sure-fire way to keep the sadistic killer doing what he does best. Terrifier is synonymous with brutal mayhem and heavy amounts of gore. Each sequel has kept that quality, so fans can expect to have plenty of both from this upcoming installment.
