Spooky Swap Meet was summer dose of haunted fun

This was our first time visiting the Spooky Swap Meet, and boy have we been missing out because it is the perfect summer-ween event. It felt like we were in October and Halloween was near, I was truly filled with bliss from all the vibes.

This event is set at the Heritage Square Museum. With rows of Victorian homes and what once was a church, this place screams spooky vibes as it is. However, this weekend each home was spooktacularly decorated with haunted lights, projections, props, cosplayers, mini-mazes, and photo ops. Each home had a special curated idea and each one was executed perfectly. The Vogel Victorian was one of my favorites, serving dark elegance and macabre touches; clearly, they know how to decorate a Victorian home.

There was so much to do and see, you could shop at 60-plus vendors for new and vintage spooky items, catch a comedic variety show, join a séance, or participate in a dance party with monsters, all brought to you by Stage Fright Theater. You could also grab a themed drink, coffee, food, or snack from several vendors. There was a large variety of options to choose from.

You could walk through the haunted Hale House with the mad Dr. of Reichland Asylum, visit the witches, possessed farmers, maniac trick-or-treater, and corn creeps at the farm house by Samhain’s Restless Farm and Adam Jess. Buy a cook book from the infamous Nikk Alcaraz. Go through a mini maze brought to you by the 13th floor and see some familiar faces from the Haunted Hayride. The ghouls are always eerily iconic.  Get your photo taken with the one and only Vampira with Rawl of the dead, or cosplay for a photo shoot as a sheeted ghost serving all the screams, curated by Mr. He Slasher, who was giving creative direction and made sure everyone had cute photos and videos.

This event was a Scarlett Creative production created by Clair Dunlap and Sarah Cooke.  They did an incredible job in creating something for everyone that brings a little bit of Halloween so early in the year. My little spooky heart was full and we will be making this a yearly tradition.

Make sure to check out the Spooky Swap Meet next year.
