Seaworld’s Howl O Scream has a lot to offer its guests, from spooky go go dancers, scare zones to haunted mazes and live shows.
The haunted houses themselves leave some to be desired in terms of set design and quality. The scare actors, however, nailed it with characters ranging from broken dolls with big attitudes and chainsaw wielding butchers.
The “Monster Stomp” musical is the certain highlight, worthy of a Broadway or Pantages run. Everything from the choreography to the singing and dancing in “Monster Stomp” was outstanding. The cast had a basic set and costumes, but brought life to this haunt without a doubt. The storyline centered around a young woman who roamed the streets of London during the times of Jack the Ripper. She is narrated by a crazed yet knowledgeable and insightful woman. The heroine of the story encounters Jack the Ripper and in the end ends his life and becomes a ripper in her own right. Throughout her journey we make stops throughout the foggy city to see various acts that progress the storyline and dazzle the audience.
One of the most notable and jaw dropping acts was a group of three men playing the drums with knives that lasted several minutes. Another act, which drew the most excited cheers from the crowd, was the skeleton dance. Drawing from various musical hits, this number featured several dancers in glow in the dark black light activated skeleton costumes.
There are still a few nights to catch Howl O Scream, and Monster Stomp should definitely be a priority viewing.
