Visit “Little Amity” for JAWS 50th anniversary at Universal Studios Orlando
Universal fans in Orlando have visited the parks more times than they can remember! On June 7th, 1990, JAWS the ride was born. Of course, there were a LOT of mishaps with the ride breaking down, having guests be evacuated almost daily, to the point that they had to close down the ride for a few years to make serious repairs. Universal eventually reopened the ride, but throughout the years, the ride kept giving the park issues, and in 2012, it was officially closed to make room for Harry Potter and the Escape From Gringotts.
In 2025, however, we’re celebrating the 50th anniversary of JAWS, and what better way than with a party on Amity Island? Thanks to Inside Universal, they gave us a preview of what’s to come. “Taking over the dock area of San Francisco, near Chez Alcatraz and the Jaws photo op, Universal has recreated a “Little Amity” section, full of signs, props, and references to the previous Amity area that is now home to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley.
This incredible photo-op, complete with a prop gun like they had on the ride, will be available for all your selfies and photo needs. The attention to detail is always a plus for us fans who love the little things. And that’s just the outside! Inside, they’ve turned the San Francisco Company store into a mini JAWS tribute store full of easter eggs and goodies galore.
