West Virginia’s Deadhead Film Festival announces two special guests for their October festival

Deadhead Film Festival will return to West Virginia on October 3, 2026 for its second annual celebration of independent horror cinema, bringing together filmmakers, audiences and horror icons for a full day of screenings, awards and live programming across two venues in downtown St. Albans.

The 2026 festival will feature 11 official film selections presented across two curated screening blocks at the Alban Arts Center, alongside filmmaker networking opportunities, community programming and live events throughout the day. The festival will conclude with an awards presentation recognizing achievements in independent horror filmmaking, followed by a live Q&A session featuring special guests Bill Moseley and Ken Foree.

Moseley, known for his performances in Rob Zombie’s The Devil’s Rejects and House of 1000 Corpses, as well as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, will appear alongside Foree, whose role in George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead helped define modern horror cinema.

The festival will also include paid photo opportunities and signing sessions with Moseley and Foree at 63 Main Events, located adjacent to the Alban Arts Center.

While the guests serve as a major part of the festival experience, organizers emphasize that Deadhead Film Festival remains centered on independent filmmakers and horror storytelling.

The event was created to support emerging voices in genre filmmaking while contributing to West Virginia’s growing creative and cultural landscape.

Submissions are currently open internationally through FilmFreeway, with filmmakers competing for cash and sponsored prizes across multiple award categories recognizing directing, performance, technical achievement and independent horror storytelling.

Ticket tiers will include VIP experiences, reserved theater seating, general admission screening access and signing-only admission options. Premium ticket holders will receive early venue access and additional festival experiences.

Festival programming will begin at 10 a.m. for select ticket holders, with screenings officially starting at 1 p.m. at the Alban Arts Center in St. Albans, West Virginia.

Presented by The Deadhead Productions Film Festival Foundation, a 501(c)3 non profit, the festival aims to create an accessible environment where filmmakers, horror fans, students and regional artists can connect through independent cinema and community-driven genre culture.
