Tubi and The Black List put out call for horror screenplays

Horror writers should pull out their keyboards, pens, and dust off their scripts, because Tubi is partnering with The Black List for a new initiative to acquire horror screenplays.

On Feb. 27, 2026, Tubi, Fox Corporation’s ad-supported streaming service, announced an expansion to their partnership with The Black List. Emerging and seasoned writers are being offered an opportunity to submit their original screenplays in the horror genre with the potential to be produced and distributed. Open submissions begin on March 1, and end June 30 this year. Entries can be submitted at https://blcklst.com/tubihorrorinitiative

This initiative for horror-specific projects comes from the success of “Terror on Tubi.” The annual October celebration this year had over 100 million hours of total viewing time; a 51% increase from previous years. Tubi sees the hunger horror audiences have and plans to invest in this fan base by strengthening the way they are being served.

Chief Content Officer at Tubi Adam Lewinson says, “At Tubi, we’re committed to championing and expanding the boundaries of genre storytelling… Horror is one of the most-watched genres on Tubi, offering a vast creative playground with a deeply passionate fanbase that continues to grow. With our ongoing partnership with The Black List, we look forward to finding a standout script that speaks to horror fans who know and love this genre.”

Black List founder Franklin Leonard says, “We’ve seen again and again that when a smart, character-driven horror script meets the right partners, the results can be seismic… Extending our work with Tubi into a dedicated horror initiative feels like the natural next step in our partnership. I’m excited for Tubi’s audience to discover a film that began the way so many of the industry’s favorite projects do, as a script on The Black List website.”

The Black List will be executive producing chosen films with Tubi collaborating throughout the program. Writers 18 years and older from across the globe are encouraged to submit their screenplays, but they must be in English. Scripts hosted on The Black List must receive one evaluation to be eligible for submissions. Tubi is offering a complete fee, however, along with one month of hosting for 100 writers.

Once submissions close, a committee of Tubi content executives will review the scripts together and announce their decisions.
