[EVENT REVIEW] Oogie Boogie Bash 2024

Here is how our day went and tips from us for this year's Oogie Boogie Bash. We went last year so we had a game plan this time. The lines were long at the tram entrance so we walked to downtown Disney using the bridge on the 2nd floor. We went in through the Disneyland Hotel entrance at 4:22 and there were no lines. You can also check out their new display. Here we got our wristbands, bags, and map. I saw the huge lines online so we were super happy to see no lines here, we definitely recommend going in this way. We got some food before the event started, I got this year's pumpkin sipper and we relaxed for a little bit to strategize before all the chaos. Down below you will see a map with all the photo pass locations that I got from a friendly staff member and the treat trails.

This year our goal was to get everything done and we did, last year we wasted too much time and missed a lot. I would pick one character for the photo opportunity that you definitely do not want to miss, in my opinion Sanderson’s sisters always have the biggest line. We started with treat trail 8-11 and I was able to get all the cars photo opp before the event even started. There is Hades photo opp and patch for pass holders by Silly Symphony. We got in line for Villains Grove right before the first parade at 7:30 but this won't open until it is dark enough so we wasted 15 min and continued onto the treat trails instead. We completed 12 and 1 then got in line to see the Sanderson Sisters because we saw the line was really short and all the characters were gone from their trails due to the parade. If I would have known this we might have stayed in line at Villians Grove.  My go to photo will always be the Sanderson Sisters, they are my fave. At this time the parade was going on so we waited about 25 min and we took our picture. We then completed 4-3-5. I definitely would recommend seeing Hades at night time because he just looks so much cooler.

We then saw the 10:00 pm parade, we got front row curb seats at 9:30. I would recommend seeing this parade slot because a lot of people with younger kids leave earlier so you can get a good seat about 15/30 min prior. The headless horseman rides 15 min before the parade so keep that in mind. The parade is always my favorite part of the night. They do such a great job. Although I will say this year the parade seemed a lot shorter to both the hubby and I.

We then completed the treat trails 2-7-6 and ran to Villians Grove. We made it just in time, we heard the cast members counting down. They close this line at exactly 11:00 pm and since it is the darkest it is going to get I feel it is the perfect thing to do before the night is over. There were no crowds so we were pleasantly surprised.

After we stopped by Disneyland where the line was short enough to take pictures on both sides of the pumpkin. That was our night, we had a blast and enjoyed every moment. We are both disney adults and Halloween is my Christmas so this time of the year is always my favorite.

My suggestion would be for my fellow pass holders to arrive early before the 3:00 pm entry if possible to avoid the crowds. 3:00 pm is early entry for the event; just make sure you're in the park at least by 4 to grab any merch and food so you don’t waste your time. FYI not sure how long this will last but there were so many popcorn buckets and sippers. Last year they ran out fast, you can also pre order all of the merch from several merchants through the mobile app. This was a shock for us because the Whinnie sold out within the first hour of last year’s event and the Mickey skeleton was completely sold out each time we went. Bring your own candy bag because the ones provided are tiny.

Complete the treat trails and characters first. During the first parade get in line for the Sanderson Sisters if this is a priority, fyi mini is in the parade during this time. Complete anything you haven’t then watch the 10:00 pm parade. Complete villains Grove last, or switch the Sanderson Sisters and the Villains Grove. We were pretty happy with our time management this year around. Mobil order as many items as possible to save time. This year the crowds seemed a lot smaller than last year in my opinion. Plan ahead and if you don’t get through everything it’s ok, enjoy yourself and have a memorable night.

New characters this year:

DR. DOOFENSHMIRTZ

HADES (my fave) *tip ask him about Hercules

AGATHA HARKNESS

Overall everything else seemed about the same, new merch, new food, new costumes. I love this years costumes more then last years.
