[EVENT REVIEW] 'THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE' Hosted by Cinespia

Spooky season is a time for Halloween themed movies, tricks and maybe some treats! We were invited to a SOLD OUT screening of the Original ‘TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE’ by Cinespia, but this wasn’t your ordinary screening, oh no! We got to watch the movie at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in North Hollywood hosted by Janelle Monae the Halloween Queen herself. I’ve seen TCM a million and one times but never in a cemetery surrounded by Hollywood celebrities and icons alike. The night started out like any other, cold and dreary, just how we like it. Now the movie isn’t the only thing you can do at Cinespia, there was Amoeba with a booth selling vinyl, shirts, and goodies. Wondery had a booth set up with their latest show EXHIBIT C: A true Crime experience LIVE!

I was given some tips and tricks from a friend who has been to a few of these screenings before and boy did they come in handy. She suggested we take advantage of the free photo-op as soon as we get there, bring plenty of blankets, snacks and drinks to eat during the film and most importantly, take plenty of photos to remember the night by. The free photo-op was so much fun, they had Leatherface hanging out in the back while we casually took our photo with him, nice guy!

We grabbed some pizza which was DELICIOUS, courtesy of Naughty By Nature pizza and what’s a movie without popcorn and candy? We settled in for the screening and had some lovely intros from John Wyatt, founder of Cinespia, Madame Adam also did a reading for the crowd before the film started and our host Janelle Monae made her grand entrance in full Leatherface attire after doing a slick DJ set as Johnny Jane! The crowd was excited and when the title crawl rolled you could feel the excitement in the air. I’m curious how many first timers were in attendance. We cheered, we laughed and we rooted for Leatherface to get those damn kids! Once the screening commenced the vibes were perfect, people were dancing to Wyldflower who was DJ’ing before the movie to get everyone excited and it was incredible to see all these horror fans hanging out in a cemetery just vibing! I highly recommend a night out with some friends at a Cinespia screening, but you better be quick because they sell out FAST. For more info on their screenings and where they will be next, follow them on Instagram or check out their website.
