[HAUNT REVIEW] Sweet Screams

Tucked away in Yucaipa comes the newest haunt to emerge from the depths of hell… Or from the mind of someone who loves to scare people ;)

Sweet Screams takes you on a journey that you wish you never took. That’s not to say the haunt itself wasn’t scary, on the contrary this was one of the scariest haunts I’ve done in a long time. You first enter a dark and flickering lights hallway where the host asks “how many bodies?” and she says wait here…we have a surprise for you which of course means everything will be alright! You enter the room with coffins lining the walls and you step inside one and before you can say anything they shut the coffin door and everything goes dark. Literally. The amount of terror felt in those 15? 20? seconds was SHEER PANIC. Eerie music starts playing with a voice over saying “you’re going to die tonight” and it sure felt like it! Once the coffin door is open you’re in a completely different room and given a flashlight to find your way through.

Of course the flashlight is flickering and zombies are hidden inside the walls ready to jump out at you given the chance. Pushing through a door a nun yells at you to be quiet because they’re praying in the chapel. Once you’re yelled out of that room you enter a bedroom where a girl screams there’s something under her bed and naturally you want to get the hell out of there but before you can a clown pops out with no warning and screams “it’s only me!” The next few rooms are such a blur because there was so much detail and terror that it was hard to stay focused on where to go and how to get out of their as quickly as possible! Room after room you’re treated to scares, lore, and most importantly the exit!!!

Leaving those rooms meant freedom was near and the nightmares were over… Or were they? They definitely were unless you wanted to take a 360 photo with some scare actors for an added fee to commemorate your journey through Sweet Screams. If you’re looking for a terrifyingly good time I would keep an eye out on Black Casket Productions instagram page to see what they come up with next year!
